After receiving his master’s degree in Monetary Economics Gijs was interested to experience how economic “laws” manifest themselves within corporates and how they impact both strategic and operational issues. For that reason, he joined ABN AMRO Bank in 1999 where he soon developed a growing interest in solving corporate finance related issues. Gijs has held several client facing commercial positions in both the SME and (larger) corporate segment. In his role as Head of Product Management Lending, Gijs and his team were responsible for the control and development of new lending products for the bank. The gained experience at both commercial and policy oriented level formed the right combination for his growing wish to assist entrepreneurs with their debt related issues. To pursue this ambition Gijs decided to quit the bank and join Dutch Debt Advisors in July 2016. Gijs currently lives in Amsterdam with his wife and two daughters.
